The public in Rodrigues is advised to maintain all precautions and stay indoor.At 07h00 hours, Severe Tropical Storm BHEKI was centred at about 150 km to the North-East of Rodrigues, around latitude 18.7 degrees south and longitude 64.3 degrees east. It is moving in a west-southwesterly direction at a speed of about 14 km/h. Along this trajectory, BHEKI continues to dangerously approach Rodrigues and its centre is expected to pass at about 100 km to the North of the island in the following hours.
Active cloud bands associated with Bheki are crossing the island. Sky is overcast with showers that will be moderate to heavy at times together with thunderstorms. Wind will blow from the southeast at about 90 km/h with gusts of the order 120 km/h.The sea will be high with heavy swells of the order of 7 metres and storm surge along the coasts.The public is strictly advised not to go out at sea and to avoid venturing along the beaches.
