Several users across the globe reported disruptions while using instant messaging app WhatsApp with many reporting issues accessing the platform’s web version. The outage, which affected both personal and business accounts, left users unable to connect or send messages via WhatsApp Web, prompting frustration and a flurry of complaints across social media platforms.
According to Downdetector, the online website performance tracking tool, about 57% WhatsApp users have reported issues with the web, while 35% report facing issues on the app. Users have also reported the issue on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not released any official statement addressing the cause of the disruption.
Recently, WhatsApp is reportedly testing a feature that will enable users to combat the growing issue of spammy business messages on its platform. The upcoming feature will allow users to provide feedback to businesses about the types of messages they wish to receive.
